The Sound Transit project is part of the East Link Rail Service that is to create the first construction of a railway structure on a floating bridge. The 22km long connection would offer passengers an alternative fast route to travel between Seattle’s International District and Redmond.

Several tests have been carried out at the Transportation Technology Center in Colorado. Two link rail vehicles have successfully passed tests such as crossing the prototype bridge at speeds higher than 80km/h.
The East Link Rail Service is scheduled to be operational by 2023.
