ABC at the service of Iranian rail

In early November 2016, Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) signed a contract with the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran (RAI) to rehabilitate two AD43C locomotives. This type of equipment was powered by a 16-cylinder diesel engine since 2002.

Due to extreme weather conditions (hot and dusty), only a limited number of locomotives are currently in service. RAI wants to upgrade its fleet of diesel locomotives through a major rehabilitation program. The contract includes the engineering services related to the engine (air filter ...), the supply, installation and commissioning of ABC 12DZC engines.

ABC, a diesel engine manufacturer for the railway industry, operates a state-of-the-art production facility in Belgium. Since 1960, it provides diesel engines for locomotive manufacturers (diesel-electric or hydraulic diesel) and rehabilitation projects. Within its factory, the group inaugurated an 8th production hall in early December. Modern equipment that represents an investment of 3 M €.

The hall was equipped with a heavy overhead travelling crane with a capacity of 130 t. The building will serve as a buffer zone for emergency diesel generators manufactured for EDF nuclear power plants in France. In the coming year, the new DV36 engines will be assembled and tested. A new test bench will therefore be commissioned in mid-2017.
