LafargeHolcim awarded the World Prix d’Excellence
Hungary – The International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) has elected LafargeHolcim Kiralyeghyaza cement plant as a winner of the World Prix d’Excellence 2017.

The Kiralyeghyaza plant located around 250 km south of Budapest is the first new greenfield cement plant built in Europe in 20 years, the whole complex is built compactly with only minimum arable land to enable sustaining agricultural activity. Additionally for a heavy industry, the plant is exceptional for being environmental friendly.

LafargeHolcim has designed this cement plant to meet the highest environmental, as the company always worked to further reduce the environmental impact, and as a result, both CO² emissions and power consumption have been reduced by more than 20% over five years. Almost 60% of the plant’s thermal energy needs are met by using alternative fuels which reducing significantly the amount of fossil fuels needed.

The plant was awarded the World Gold Winner prize in the industrial buildings category for its outstanding environmental performance and the high architectural quality on the plant buildings.
