Scania, always cutting edge of innovation
Will the hydrogen fuel cells be one of the options for the future in transports solutions?

Always cutting edge of innovation, the company Scania a world leading provider of transport solutions located in Sweden, believes that hydrogen fuel cell could be one of the solutions for a future sustainable transport.

PUBLICITÉ
As part of Scania’s long term strategy to drive their efforts the shift towards sustainable transport, the company has collaborated with Norwegian goods wholesaler Asko to test hydrogen gas propulsion in trucks. The trucks are fitted with an electric powertrain, and electrical energy is converted from hydrogen gas in fuel cell on board the vehicles. The fuel cell creates electricity by an electro-chemical process using hydrogen and oxygen. The electricity generated by the fuel cells powers the electric powertrain, as the system has a integrated battery buffer.
The hydrogen-based solutions provide also zero emission technology, and above all, the hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles feature the same attributes comparable to conventional vehicles such as refueling patterns and infrastructure build-up.

Currently, the hydrogen fuel cell technology is not mature yet, and hydrogen gas stations are not well developed, nevertheless, the Swedish company is confident that the new technology will be one of the solutions for the future and it will have its part to play in the sustainable transport solutions.
