USA: New Wind farm breaks ground in Oklahoma
The American company, Renewable Energy Systems (RES) has started construction of the Redbed Plains Wind Farm located in Grady County.

Located in the southwest of Oklahoma City, the EDP Renewables North America’s (EDPR NA) wind farm is to comprise fourty-eight Siemens Gamesa turbines that are to generate a capacity of 99.1MW.

RES is in charge of the project construction and an interconnection agreement with American Electric Power (AEP), a major investor-owned electric utility in the United States, delivering electricity has also been concluded.

RES senior vice president of construction, Jason Zingerman commented: “Redbed Plains marks a significant milestone for RES, as it is our eighth wind project in Oklahoma. We look forward to continued work with landowners and major stakeholders to bring the economic benefits of renewable energy to the Sooner State.”

Two-hundred and fifty jobs are to be created during the construction phase.

The project completion is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017.

Phillip Westerby, Executive Vice President, Technical at EDPR NA added: “EDPR NA will expand its footprint to more than 600 MW of operational wind projects in Oklahoma with the completion of the Redbed Plains Wind Farm. The company remains committed to providing clean, renewable energy throughout North America.”
