USA: New data center under construction in Minneapolis

The national data center developer and operator, Stream Data Centers is currently building a new facility for U.S Bank in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area, better known as Twin Cities.

The new facility is to be built on 56,000 square-feet in the Twin Cities at a cost of $250M.

Stream Data Centers is in charge of the project that would allow the company to have a total delivered capacity in the market exceeding 10MW.

Rob Kennedy, co-managing partner of Stream Data Centers said: “The Twin Cities are rapidly becoming a major national data center market. This new facility demonstrates the strength of a talented local workforce, robust incentives, available power and growing connectivity.”

Since 2012, more than 25 new or refurbished data centers have been completed in Minnesota with around 90% in the Twin Cities. This place is by the way ranked eight among the nation’s large metro areas for the size of its data processing workforce.

The project comprises structurally enhanced buildings, independent infrastructure and best-in-class operations.

The data centers completion is scheduled for the end of the year.
