Saipem wins contract for Liza project in Guyana
The company has been awarded an EPCI contract for the development of offshore field ‘Liza’ in the country located on South America’s North Atlantic coast.

Operated by Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited, an affiliate of ExxonMobil, the Liza project is located around 120 miles offshore Guyana at a water depth of 1,800 meters. Its recoverable resource is estimated at over 1bn oil-equivalent barrels.

The global company specialized in drilling services, in EPCI of pipelines and complex projects in the oil & gas market, Saipem has been selected on May 10 to carry out EPCI for the project.

Saipem CEO, Stefano Cao commenetd: “We are delighted to have secured this award from an important client such as ExxonMobil. A further reason for our satisfaction is the opportunity to be among the first operators in the oil&gas industry to work in an emerging country like Guyana. This is an important milestone for Saipem and an exciting challenge in a frontier area”.

The contract includes engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the risers, flow lines, associated structures as well as jumpers. Saipem is also engaged to undertake the transportation and installation of umbilicals, manifolds and associated foundations for the production, water and gas injection systems.
To realize the project, Saipem will use its flagship vessels FDS2 and the Normand Maximus.

The work is to start in 2019.

This project added to two others contracts won by Saipem in the North Sea and West Africa are worth $500M.
