China: Li Yu Shan Mining relies on Volvo

In China, in the province of Zhejiang, the Chinese company Li Yu Shan Mining is carrying out its quarrying activity using a fleet of Volvo machines.

Li Yu Shan Mining, a Chinese quarrying company, is located on the east coast of China, in the former province of Zhejiang, 60 km from the provincial capital of Hangzhou and 200 km from Shanghai. It is renowned in the region for the production of small and medium aggregates of 20-25 mm and 50-60 mm. A third of its production is used as a base material for the construction of thousands of kilometers of high-speed railways that crisscross China. The company produced 1.5 million tonnes in 2015.

Due to the economic downturn and lower equipment utilization rates, Li Yu Shan Mining tends to keep its machines longer and therefore favors regular maintenance. Since 2010, it has purchased seven EC210B and two EC240B excavators from its local Volvo dealership, Zheijiang Liyang Machinery, based in Deqing. The machines are equipped with an extremely strong boom and arm allowing excavation depths of 6 m.

To maintain stability on rocky terrain, the machines also feature robust X-frame, high strength steel, more durable. Recently, the company has ordered € 400,000 for the first three excavators of a larger order of 15 EC380D excavators, in view of a future mining project.
