Malaysia, Project of maritime city on Carey Island

MMC Port Holdings, Sime Darby Property Berhad and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to study the feasibility of developing a maritime city on Carey Island, Selangor, Malaysia.

For APSEZ, Malaysia is very strategic with a shipping route of Malacca standing between Vizhinjam port on one side, Carey Island on the other. This route could give transshipment solutions to global shipping lines.

Beside, another Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between MMC Port Holding and Adani Ports to investigate the feasibility of extending the Port Klang, currently the 11^th busiest container port in the world.

Malaysia, one of the largest economies in South East Asia, is an important logistical hub in the region and is a gateway to the dynamic region of ASEAN.
