The longest road bridge in India

To achieve the project of the longest road bridge connecting the port city and its southern satellite town of Navi Mumbai, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project has now seven bidders in race.

Among the bidders are : China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, Daewoo Engineering & Construction and SK Engineering & Construction, IHI Infrastructure Systems from Japan with Indian partners, Larsen & Toubro and the Shapoorji Pallonji Group.

For recall, the bridge also known as the Sewri-Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link, will consist of 22 km freeway grade road bridge. The sea link will include 16.5 km and contains a 6 lane highway with 27 meters in width, in addition to edge strip and crash barrier.

The project is estimated to cost $2.7 bn as the tender for the project will be finalized in April, and the completion is expected in 2021.
