Finally, in Doha, 21 tunnel boring machines were activated to make 76 breakthroughs in 26 months as part of the construction of 111 km of metro. A giant Herrenknecht tunnel boring machine (560 t and 17.6 m in diameter) has also begun its mission in Hong Kong in 2015. Today, it has dug 646 m of galleries for a new road under the Pearl River Delta.
