Volvo on the right track to lead electromobility market
At the UITP world congress for public transport professionals held in Montreal on May 17, the global construction equipment company has won an award in the ‘operational and technical excellence’ category with the agency Västtrafik with which they compose the ElectriCity partnership.

Volvo and its North subsidiary Nova Bus stand at a world-leading position in the field of electromobility. Indeed, they have sold up to 4250 units of electrified buses in recent years.

Håkan Agnevall, President Volvo Buses said: “At Volvo we are proud to be a global leader in this development. As one of the largest manufacturers of buses and coaches in the world, we have a responsibility to society. And we truly believe we can make a difference as pioneers of the global development of sustainable transports.”

The last Nova Bus LFSe electrically powered bus has been on display at UITP and the first three of this model are to enter in operation in Montreal in the near future.

ElectriCity is a collaborative project conducted in Sweden between academics, industry and the public sector. It aims at developing, demonstrating and evaluating new sustainable public transport systems for the future.
