Pakistani Mohmand Dam project groundbreaking to be set in November

The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has confirmed that the construction work for the Hydropower facility will start, this year, in November.

Located on Swat River basin, the Mohmand Dam hydropower project consists of a multipurpose facility that aims to generate 800MW of electricity. It also comprises a drinking water supply of 13.30 meters cubed to Peshawar as well as an irrigated agricultural development of 6,773 hectares.

The Mohmand Dam would be operational in seven years and two month. Indeed, five years and eight months are required to complete the project along with one year Defect Notification Period and six months for the project closing.

The total cost for the project is valued at Rs 291.86bn.
