LGV SEA (South Europe Atlantic high speed line): environmental measures not respected?

The France Nature Environnement (FNE) association has reported that two subsidiaries of Vinci and Bouygues Construction, at the origin of the construction of the South Europe Atlantic high-speed line (LGV SEA), have been convicted of violating several environmental rules for watercourse quality and the protection of fauna and flora. The companies implicated by FNE - Cosea and DTP - were sentenced to more than € 40,000 in fines by the Prefect of Indre-et-Loire. The information was revealed by a tweet from the environmental association stating the facts, " the two companies particularly discharged directly into rivers polluted waters without sanitize while most effective devices should be put in place from the beginning of construction" . The conviction is based on the fact " that they could not ignore the issues and the environmental impact of their deficiency" in view of numerous exchanges with the state.

The association also relies on a survey of Mediapart confirming "a number of offenses committed (...) significant" cause of "environmental massacre". "The judgment of the court of Tours points out that similar offenses were also committed by Cosea in Gironde, Charente and Charente-Maritime or on the entire route of the LGV Tours-Bordeaux," said FNE.
