The tenders won by Thyssenkrupp consist of supplying eight high-rise escalators for Sahil and Khatai stations as well as other seventeen moving staircases for a new metro stop.

The four escalators designed to the Khatai station are to be the highest units ever manufactured by the company in Germany with a height of 48.7m.
Besides, the models to be used at the Baku Metro are expected to be narrower than previous units because the drive (motor and gears) are installed deep in front of the structure instead of in the stairs’ supports as usual. This innovation would allow more users at the same time going up or down and increase the escalators’ capacity in the shafts by up to 50%.
Schierenbeck added: “It is essential to find new solutions for people transportation that save time and reduce consumption of energy and environmental resources in all markets around the world. As a business we support cities with innovative solutions that meet the requirements of urbanization, and we are pleased that through our distributor network our reach and urban footprint can continue to grow even further.”
