Siemens unveils new aeroderivative gas turbine

During an offshore technology conference, held the second of May, in Houston, the German based global technology powerhouse has showcased the new SGT-A35 RB model for oil and gas industry.

The new SGT-A35 RB gas turbine is integrated into a compact, lightweight Dresser-Rand package which is 30% smaller and lighter than Industrial predecessors. Besides, the new model has been conceived following the proven pedigree of the Industrial RB211 model and industrial Trent 60 gas turbines that were built with Rolls-Royce aero Engine technology.

The head of New Equipment Solutions for the Dresser-Rand business, Judy Marks declared: “With the highest power density in this class we help offshore operators with a significant challenge. With gas turbines used as prime movers in offshore installations, project developers can simultaneously reduce capital investment and increase production capacity to achieve desired returns.”

The SGT-A35 RB gas turbine comprises thermal efficiency which can exceed 40% at ISO conditions. Moreover, the new model retains up to 90% of its ISO power output at 30°C which may assure its performance even for hot climates.

The SGT-A35 RB is available in 34 and 38MW variants.
