In a joint venture, ExxonMobil Chemical Company and Sabic are managing petrochemical complex project which represents a multi-billion dollar investment. Both contractors have unveiled their site’s selection to undertake the project.

The facility is to be constituted of a world-scale ethane steam cracker enable to produce an annual 1.8M tons output and which aims to feed a monoethylene glycol unit and two polyethylene units.
This project is part of ExxonMobil’s ten-year $20billion Growing the Gulf initiative which covers eleven projects of new facilities and would create thousands of jobs. The petrochemical complex is expected to generate up to $22bn in economic output during the construction phase and up to $50bn in economic output during the first six years of operations.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said: “This record-breaking project illustrates that our business climate is exactly what leading and growing companies are seeking when investing in their future.”
The selection being completed, the petrochemical companies are now applying for the necessary permits from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
