USA: French Sediver opens new plant in Arkansas

USA: French Sediver opens new plant in Arkansas
The global leader in insulation technology for transmission and distribution lines takes bigger place in the American market with the opening of a plant in West Memphis.

Last Friday, the French based company has inaugurated a new $15M high technology facility that manufactures toughened glass insulators for high voltage transmission lines. A strategical investment as the specific component has not been manufactured in the US for more than ten years.

This opening also stands as Sediver’s first production investment in the USA.

Peter Baumgartner, Sediver’s CEO declared: “We see clear signs that America’s transmission and distribution utilities are ready to invest in high quality components to ensure reliable power to their customers. Sediver is committed to providing best-in-class products to our customers and having a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in the U.S. gives us the ability to do that.”

As mentioned Peter Baumgartner, the $2.5bn Plains & Eastern Clean Line project construction has started and is to deliver wind power from western Oklahoma to Arkansas and Tenessee. It is to represent $500M private capital investment in Arkansas and $300M in Tenessee. Sediver could benefit from the news as it may most certainly result in demand increase for insulators.

Sediver West Memphis plant’s payroll is planned to generate $3.5M impact on the local economy.

Arkansas Governor, Asa Hutchinson said:  “Our talented workforce combined with our low cost of doing business and logistical advantages make Arkansas the perfect place to build a high-tech manufacturing facility. I look forward to seeing the economic impact this facility will bring to the West Memphis area.”

Besides, Sediver has opened the first center of technical expertise in the U.S for insulation technologies, a considerable advantage for transmission and distribution engineering industry in the U.S.

The new plant has besides allowed creation of 75 jobs in Arkansas.
