Caterpillar M323F: A railroad excavator

The new Cat M323F "Railroader" is the first Caterpillar wheeled excavator with driving wheels on a rail chassis. Scheduled to go into production in 2018, it has been developed with experts in railway maintenance and construction to ensure that it complies with all applicable standards (including EN15746).

The Cat M323F is powered by an ACERT Cat C4.4 engine of 112 kW offering real fuel economy thanks to its ECO Mode, and complying with Stage IV emission standards. With access to the ground for maintenance, it aims to reduce operating costs. It also has an independent hydrostatic transmission dedicated to rail traffic.

It is equipped with LINK technology that effectively supports fleet managers. They are able to know the location of the machine, its working hours, fuel consumption, downtime and maintenance diagnostics. The data is sent directly to VisionLink, the online platform.
