The first €627M Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract commits Astaldi to the Municipality of Istanbul. The Italian contractor is to undertake civil works and the electromechanical systems of the Istanbul underground section named Kirazli-Halkali.
The project consists of 10km double-tube tunnel building, 7km of which dug using Tunnel Boring Machine, nine stations with annexed car parks and a depot area. Two and a half years are required for completion.
The Turkish companies Makyol, Ictas and Kaylon have signed a joint venture with Astaldi for the project.

KGM, Ministry of Transport’s General Directorate of Motorways in Turkey has entrusted Astaldi, Ictas and Kaylon companies to carry out fourteen junctions, three service areas, seven motorway toll booths, ten viaducts and eleven bridges in addition to operation and maintenance activities.
It is a 10 year contract which divides as follow: 36 months for the construction phase and 7 years for operation.
The two contracts are worth nearly €1bn.
