New laboratory for Lafarge in Morocco

The global building materials and solution company has inaugurated, last Thursday, a construction development lab (CDL) in Casablanca.

Standing as Lafarge Holcim eighth CDL in the world, the Casablanca lab aims to provide innovative building solutions that could fit for local constraints and characteristics of the African construction market.

Organizing specialized training in order to enable construction professionals to use innovative solutions is also another possible use of the lab. Moreover, the company is willing to promote R&D (research and development) by partnering starts-ups or education institutions. It could allow testing new ideas as well as getting closer to construction experts.

The 4000 square feet place would accommodate around 50 professionals being engineers, technicians, architects and marketers.

Opening a CDL in Casablanca is also strategic for Lafarge Holcim that develops Airium™, a mineral insulating foam.

Gérard Kuperfarb, Group Head of Growth & Innovation at Lafarge Holcim declared in 2016: “This product truly represents a new concept for insulation. Healthier, safer and simpler to work with, Airium™ is an energy-efficient insulation for buildings, in keeping with LafargeHolcim’s commitment to offering sustainable, high-performance construction solutions.”

The group has seven others CDL in Algeria, Argentina, China, France, India, Malaysia and Mexico.
