Texas uses Volvo fleet for demolition

In Texas, Lloyd D. Nabors Demolition, based in Hutchins, south of Dallas, is backed by a fleet of Volvo machinery as part of its demolition activities.

The company commissioned a fleet of 20 Volvo excavators including a long-range EC460 supplied by the distributor Romco Equipment. Lloyd D. Nabors Demolition was the first Texas-based company to acquire the long-range shovel. With a modular articulation system, the extended extension arm can be exchanged against an arrow for excavation if necessary in 45 minutes exactly against 2 days in normal time, reported a salesman at Romco.

In addition to its flexibility, the EC460 is characterized by increased safety. The company particularly appreciates this asset during the demolition of 6 and 7-storey buildings. "Our operator is kept at a safe distance and we are able to reach and demolish a building remotely effortlessly. When it collapses, we are in a secure perimeter," Nabors said.

The long arm can be equipped with a shear or a hammer for a perfect control of the demolition.
