New diesel engines for generators by Volvo Penta
Volvo Penta is introducing two new diesel engines (the TWD1645GE and the TWD1644GE) for generators, one of which has the highest engine power density per liter in its class.

The TWD1645GE (16 l) engine has been designed to produce up to 10% more energy than previous models. Its rpm settings are switchable so it can be used anywhere in the world. "It is very exciting for us to launch the engine with the highest power density in its class," commented Giorgio Paris, director of the Volvo Penta industrial segment. "So we are setting a new benchmark in power generation. The engine is equipped with our latest technologies that allow us to offer the most power on the market per liter for a 16-liter engine ."

The TWD1645GE produces up to 800 kVA at 1800 rpm (60Hz) and up to 770 kVA at 1500 rpm (50Hz). Its small brother, the TWD1644GE delivers up to 752 kVA at 1800 rpm and up to 717 kVA at 1500 rpm. Both were designed for efficiency of 94%. Both models feature dual stage turbochargers and new high quality steel pistons for optimum power density and optimized combustion through high-pressure electronic injectors that deliver high energy efficiency and carbon emission levels very low.

Like the other 16L models in the Volvo Penta family, the TWD1645GE and TWD1644GE motors are simple to install and maintain. They are very economical and reduce operating costs, noise and vibration. Responding to the Stage II emission standards, they are also very environmentally friendly. "With an excellent power / size ratio, these models are compact, flexible and have a good load capacity and can be used for any type of accumulation," said Krikor Abraham, Power Generation Product Manager at Volvo Penta.

The new engines will be on display at the Middle East Electricity Fair in Dubai from today until February 16 at the Volvo Penta stand.
