A Grove GMK5250L earns an admiration in Germany

Dornseiff, the cranes German rental company based in Burbach, has seen its latest acquisition a Grove GMK5250L , to resolve an enormous challenge : Raise 10 refrigeration units with an exceptional longer-range.

The site was located in the region of Oberbergisch in North Rhine-Westphalia and involved the lifting of refrigeration units for a large building. Each unit weighed 2.4T and was under the responsibility of Dornseiff to make a lift on the roof of 22.5 meters high. The lifts have to be made with a reach of 57 meters, and it was a crane Grove GMK5250L which was chosen for the job.

“In the past, we would have chosen a tower crane to work in this confined space. But the machine was uneable to provide the lifting capacity needed for this project. Our new Grove GMK5250L with a lifting extension boom, met our expectations . It allowed us to remove the logistic costs inherent in the use of an additional crane, "said Michel Jaeger, Dornseiff technician.

The GMK5250L wore a main boom of 70 meters, in addition with a lifting extension boom of 29.3 meters. This configuration allowed the lifting units of 57 meters reach with ease. "Knowing that our new crane work in rough terrain in the region of Olpe, we need a model that has the best handling and first-class drive comfort. In this case the GMK5250L is equipped with a retarder clutch VIAB turbo and Megatrak suspension ", says for his part Wolfgang Dornseiff CEO of Dornseiff.
