Designed by Richard Plotter Architecture agency and its office for wood design Arborescence, the skating rink of Samoëns houses a covered area of more than 3 140 sq meter. It tops with two irregular, dissymmetrical and sloping roof. The structure, entirely done with spruce, is made of glue-laminated beams which rests on top of the posts “boxes” with variable-inertia of arborescence . This method confers to the artwork a feeling of lightness and answers perfectly to the environmental requirements and architectural design laid out by the town of Samoëns.
