Alstom provides 30 underground trains to the Lyon Metropolis

Within the context of the program "Future Metro 2020” of Sytral, Alstom has been contracted for 30 new generation underground trains for Lyon Metropolis. Contract amount: € 140 million.

The contract awarded by the Sytral aims to increase the transport capacity of the lines A, B and D of Lyon subways, to cope with the increased traffic, estimated around 30% more in the coming years. The order is for 30 underground trains on tires with a length of 36 metres and capable of carrying 325 passengers each.

Eco-designed, they will be 96% recyclable and have a completely electric brake system, LED lighting and other innovations to reduce 25% of energy consumption. This first order will be supplemented by the second including 18 underground trains. The first four trains will go into operation during 2019 on the line B of Lyon subway.
