South Korean-Turkish consortium deal to build Çanakkale bridge

A Turkish and South Korean consortium including Limak and Yapi Merkezi and Korean companies Daelim and Sk, have finalized a deal to build the world’s longest bridge over the Dardanelles Strait.

The Çanakkale 1915 Bridge of 3.6 km, will be built between the Lapseki and Gelibolu district of Çanakkale in the respect of the archaeological sites in the region, and will cost a total amount nearly 10.35 billion Turkish lira ($2.80 billion).

“Turkey is a key country for both the Middle East and Central Asia wherein Turkey has good relations with other countries and the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge can facilitate the country’s transportation. This project would enable Turkey to show its geopolitical position, natural beauty and cultural richness to foreigner”, stated Korean Transport Minister Kang Hoin.

The Çanakkale 1915 Bridge would be the peak of Turkish-Korean relations which already have a partnership based in Eurasia Tunnel and Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge projects.
