A consortium comprising Nesher, the main cement manufacturer in Israel, has built facilities dedicated to waste treatment. Recyclable waste like paper and metal are sorted, while the rest is converted into dried high-energy Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF). The obtained fuel is then reused: it is burnt in the main cement plant of the country, replacing oil coke, a non-environmentally friendly fossil fuel.
