Developed by Suez, the "Dragonfly Zone" is an artificial wet space that can be placed downstream of a treatment plant in which the development of biodiversity allows the increased fight against micropollutants and limits their spread in fresh or marine waters. The Chinese project concerns the rehabilitation of the existing vegetated release area (13 ha) and the design of an extension of 23 ha. Designed downstream of the sewage treatment plant operated by Suez, this zone will provide a tertiary treatment of effluents, with guarantees for the elimination of pollutants (Oxygen Chemical Demand -DCO, metals, phosphorus, nitrogen ...), improving the quality of the effluents, discharges into the natural environment and making it possible to reuse the treated effluents. Several hundred species of plants will be selected according to their purification capacity or their resistance to salt (due to the high salinity level of the park’s effluents). The diversity of habitats created will promote the colonization of local flora and fauna adapted to wetlands. Finally, the installation of solar panels and wind turbines will allow the Dragonfly Zone to be self-sufficient in energy. Work will begin in mid-2017 for commissioning in 2018.
