The latest improvements to its intelligent 3D sensor to optimize its use illustrate it perfectly. This new three-dimensional obstacle detection system O3M151, based on IFM’s PMD (Time-of-Flight-Time Measurement) technology, uses infrared illumination which frees it from parasitic influences caused by changing environmental conditions such as sunlight, rain or various reflective materials. First 3D sensor system with integrated 2D camera, it provides a video image with graphs, symbols or texts in real time that are triggered either by the driver assistance system or by the control system of the machine via CAN. Thus the user can permanently see the relevant messages on the image provided by the camera. Another improvement, via a simple parameterization on the software IFM Vision Assistant, the sensor can integrate a function of anti-collision. Finally, in addition to the analog video signal from the 2D camera, the intelligent 3D sensor can transmit significant data via its CAN or UDP Ethernet interface.
