Enhancement project ongoing at New York’s Greater Rochester Airport

On April 25, New York’s Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has officially proclaimed the groundbreaking of the $53.7M transformation project to be realized at the international airport.

Many changes are expected at the Greater Rochester international airport situated in Monroe County, New York. At a cost of $53.7M, the transformation project mainly consists of Terminal redesigning including upscale shopping and dinning area as well as the installation of solar lighting and rainwater collection.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo declared: "Across New York, we are investing in bold, visionary infrastructure projects like never before, and by transforming the Rochester Airport, we create a world-class hub to drive economic activity and growth throughout the region. This transformation builds on our investments in the Finger Lakes to create a new gateway to all the region has to offer and help us keep moving the Finger Lakes Forward."

The project aims at rehabilitating and revitalizing the airport’s facilities and infrastructure.
State-of-the-art innovations are to be included. Indeed, new façade creation will feature solar canopy with the objective of improving security and supporting sustainability by means of solar panels and rainwater for landscape irrigation. New windows with energy efficient glass bringing in additional sunlight are also to be set up.
A smart phone lot including, electric car charging stations would be
constructed before the terminal to provide travelers to save time.

The Greater Rochester transformation project is to cost $53.7M.
