Skanska signs $60.4M contract to update tunnels in Norway

The Stockholm based development and construction Company has been awarded on April 21st the project by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

Skanska is engaged to renovate the Ekeberg and Svartdal tunnels on the E6/E18 in Oslo, the capital city.

The $60.4M contract includes electrical work, fire protection and improved cleaning solution for water from the tunnels. Moreover, new technical buildings are to be constructed, evacuation routes will be upgraded, a new layer of asphalt should be added and all signs are foreseen to be replaced.

The project groundbreaking will be this summer for a completion before summer 2019. Most of the work would be undertaken at night to minimize impact on traffic.
