Atlas Copco provides 100% oil-free compressors for refinery in Vietnam

The South Korean contractor Sungdo Engineering & Construction has entrusted Atlas Copco Rental, the division of the world leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions to provide oil-free air compressors at the Nghi Refinery.

The Nghi Son Refinery & Petrochemical complex is located in Thanh Hoa Province, 260km away from Hanoi in Vietnam.

For purging and drying the 16.9 meters long catalyst tank during the final construction phase of the refinery, Atlas Copco Rental has provided 100% oil-free air compressors.

The Nghi Son Refinery has capacity to process 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day and will produce jet fuel diesel and petrochemical products.

The $5bn project construction started in 2013, undertaken by the engineering company JGC in consortium with Japanese and South Korean international companies.

This project, at a total cost of $8bn, stands as the first major for Atlas Corpo Rental in Vietnam.

The commercial operation phase is anticipated in May 2017.
