Terex cranes at work on Lake Ontario

A multi-million dollar project is under construction on Lake Ontario, Canada. The Bridgewater residences are erected in Burlington using Terex tower cranes.

The $210-million Canadian project, which will be finish in three years, is expected to benefit some 175,000 people. Built on less than 1 ha, the complex will include 3 buildings which will include condominiums, a hotel, shops and restaurants. Permanent residents will occupy the second 7-story building while the third will be reserved for a 4-star hotel, restaurants and shops.

MTN Forming, based in Bolton, Ontario, is responsible for the structural formwork of the project. They are using several tower cranes for the task which should extend over two years. The Terex cranes are used for the lifting of building materials, tools, concrete prefabrication elements and steel reinforcements.

MTN Forming relied on the expertise of Cropac Equipment Company and C&C Cranes Services (Oakville, Ontario) to acquire cranes capable to withstand snow and extreme cold winds. The choice was made for two Terex SK 315 and SK 415. The first one offers a capacity of 8t to 16t while the second and largest can raise 20t over a radius of 50m.
