Carlos M. Jarque, CEO of FCC Group, said: "The implementation of this industrial project strengthens our strategic positioning in Central America, which is an important business hub for the company. Industrial projects are a priority line of business for FCC”.
Located next to Chevron terminal, the project would feature nine storage tanks for marine oil, fuel oil and clean oil products such as diesel, gasoline and Jet A with a capacity of around 360,000 cubic meters.
A complementary marine infrastructure which includes jetties to handle ships up to 80,000 dwt, is also to be built.
Vopak Panama’s managing director, Agustin Silva declared: "The new terminal will be a valuable expansion of the global Vopak network and will enable us to serve our customers at this very strategic location.”
When completed, in approximatively 24 months, the oil storage terminal would benefit from its strategical location: close to the Atlantic entry to the Panama Canal and at the crossroads of international trade routes in the Caribbean region.
