€190M route project in Poland

Polish infrastructure management company, Trasa Lagiewnicka awarded, on March 17, the contract to the polish constructor Budimex in joint venture with the Spanish infrastructure operator Ferrovial Agroman to build the Lagiewniki Road in Krakow.

The Lagiewniki Road project consists of a 3.5km section construction of dual carriageway starting at the crossing with Grota-Roweckiego road to the intersection with Beskidzka road and Halszki road. A 2.5km tram route, tunnels for the main carriageways under the crossings, work on a railway line connecting the Kurdwanów housing estate with Zakopiańska road and the relocation of the Wilga riverbed are also to be undertaken in the project.

The Lagiewniki Road aims to connect the Ruczaj housing estate and Zakopiańska road with the Wola Duchacka and Kurdwanów housing estates.

Jacek Majchrowski, Mayor of Kraków said : The project will have an effect on reducing traffic in the heart of Kraków — including the “Trzech Wieszczów” avenues — and take over some of the traffic between districts from the centre, resulting in reduction of emissions. "

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the polish development Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego are financing the infrastructure project that costs €190M.
