The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) awarded Rs 868M consultancy contract in joint venture with four firms led by multi-disciplinary engineering Turkish group Dolsar.

The 57 year old plant features ageing electro-mechanical equipment and as even lost generation capacity dropping from 243MW to 193MW.
The German Federal Bank KfW and the French Development Agency (AFD) loan €40M each for the project. The European Investment Bank (EIB) also provides loan of €50M.
With this rehabilitation, the Warsak Power Station could be operational for 30 to 40 years more.
