Agreement reached for power plant project in Libya

On Thursday April 6, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between General Electricity Of Libya (GECOL) and the Greek constructor METKA that will undertake the Tobruk station construction.

In January, METKA awarded the $380M contract to build the 736W power plant in the port city of Tobruk. Four General Electric (GE) GT10E2 gas-powered turbine units are to be used at the station.

A220/66kV substation is also part of the project.

With the new power plant, the country expects to alleviate power outage in the eastern region of Libya.
