Future international airport for Dominica?

Local Minister for Tourism wants to attract tourists on the Caribbean island.

Dominica is one of those rare untouched places in the world. How is that? The following might explain it all.

Today, if one wants to travel to Dominica, one has to fly via Martinique or Guadeloupe. This lack of direct connection might deter some tourists to visit the island. This is at least the opinion of the Minister for Tourism, who declared in a radio interview on March, 27, 2017 that Dominica needed its own airport.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit shared that an American company would be on site in order to present a study regarding the construction of an international airport. The government would like to build it in the north-east of the island. A feasibility study is going on in this regard. The authorities will receive the results in April. Compliance to aviation standards is taken seriously.
