As part of the Egyptian mega project to avoid electricity shortage, the plants opening have officially been inaugurated in March.
The German electronics manufacturing Siemens has managed the three plants creation. At the global cost of $6.4b, each plant is expected to produce 4.800MW annual electricity.

In December 2016, the contract was signed with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to undertake six substations installation in the country. Siemens has already achieved three substations completions, at the beginning of the month, in the cities of Etay El-Baroud, Maghagha and Kafr El Zayat. They are to transmit electricity generated by the three power plants to Egypt’s grid.
