OMA’s Concrete building open in Dubai

The first building to be realized by the Dutch firm OMA in the UAE is now hosting exhibitions.

The Concrete building has been inaugurated at the beginning of the month in Dubai’s Al Qouz industrial area. The Dutch Office Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) founded by Rem Koolhaas has been in charge of the project which stands as its first in the United Arab Emirates.

Rem Koolhaas said: "Dubai is one of the cities that has had a deep impact on our work, and I am very happy that this particular building is our first effort here. In Concrete, we are not introducing a new shape but instead were able to infiltrate an existing building with an arts institution. This building is totally produced in Dubai; it is not a foreign ideal, and that I think is significant.”

Alserkal Avenue, the arts hub of the city has collaborated with the Atassi Foundation to hold the first exhibition that has started the 9th of March and will last until the 3rd of April in the 600 square feet building.
