Wright Electric to create electric-powered plane

The start-up company is discussing with Easy Jet for a partnership to launch zero-emissions electric aircraft.

The American company is willing to set up a plane powered by stored electricity within 20 years. The airliner would be a 150-seater short-haul flight to serve New-York-Boston, London-Paris or Seoul-Jeju, for instance, as Wright Electric statement said on its website.
Wright is discussing with the low-cost airline Easy Jet to take part in the project.

Another spokesperson said: “We’re not inventing new wings or fuselage formats. Our airframe is designed to comply with existing FAA regulations. “

Wright Electric co-founder, Jeff Engler has presented a one-seater electric plane, the last march 20th, at the Y Combinator’s Demo Day.
