New industrial and residential complex set to spring up in Tangier

North of Morocco is to become an economic hub thanks to the creation of a “smart city”.

Chinese Group Haite is about to build a brand-new industrial and residential city of 2,000 hectares in Tangier. This setting should accommodate nearly 200 Chinese factories within ten years, converting the site into the largest Chinese industrial platform on the continent. Diverse sectors will be represented, such as aeronautics, automotive and electronics.

With an initial cost of 1 billion dollars, this new complex will bring a real economic value as it will generate record levels of investments (10 billion dollars) and will contribute to create 100,000 jobs in the next decade. 90% of these will be filled by the regional population.

The first stone of the site named “Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City” will be laid in the second half of 2017. The place will be conceived according to the “smart city” concept. Chinese are experts in the field. Aspects relating to environment preservation, liveability, industry, dynamism and innovation will be taken into account. The use of the latest technologies will make Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City “modern life-proof”.
