Virtual reality ensures real safety at Bouygues Construction’s jobsites

Bouygues Construction and HTC Vive are taking virtual reality one step further by putting it at the service of risk prevention directly on site.

Virtual reality is becoming more and more popular in the architecture, real estate and building designing fields. It had already been proven very useful to visualize structures before works kickoff and to make more informed decisions during the design phase. Bouygues Construction, convinced by the technology, decided to use it in new applications. In this regard, safety and training will be the new priorities of the existing collaboration between the French giant and HTC Vive.

Thanks to the principle of immersion, it is now possible to simulate the falling on an item, a fire or the lack of a safety gate, events that can have dramatic consequences in real life. Site workers will be informed of potential dangers and trained to realistic practical cases.

Bouygues considers HTC is the best in the field. Vive Tracker, HTC’s new instrument, allows the use of real items as tools inside the training modules, which opens up a whole world of possibilities. There is no stopping progress!
