Expected to be completed in 2019, the 9 km TM-CLKL two-lane road to link the Northwest New territories (NWNT) to the south of Hong Kong meet technical issues. Indeed, the building of the Northern Connection implies to lower the Subsea tunnel section around 10m. The 700m long infrastructure is built on the artificial island, Zhuhai and has to be aligned below the island’s seawall.

The TM-CLKL project aims to reduce the journey between NWNT and Lantau Island as well as the distance between Tuen Mun South and the international airport which may reach 22km.
The cost for the whole project construction has been established at $44,798.4 million by the Legislative Council Finance Committee.
