Liebherr expands large wheel loaders to wood industry

Liebherr’s LogHandler L 580 XPower will make its first public appearance at the trade fair LIGNA 2017, the trade fair for the timber and logging industry in Hanover, Germany, from 22 to 26 May. It will also be presented at the ElmiaWood trade fair, which will take place from 7 to 10 June 2017 in Jönköping, Sweden.

The new machine is aimed at producers of roundwood and logs. It is also suitable for cellulose, paper, cardboard and packaging plants. The advantages of the LogHandler L 580 XPower are particularly evident on flexible paths or when transporting high-speed roundwood over long distances.

Like the Liebherr large loaders, the LogHandler L 580 XPower’s main advantage is its XPower power-sharing transmission, which conforms to the Stage IV / Tier 4F standard. It combines the advantages of hydrostatic transmission (efficient during short loads) with those of mechanical transmission (more powerful and economical over long distances and ascent).
