Kenya Konza Technopolis underway

The construction of Konza Techno City, one of the key flagships projects of Vision 2030 to position Kenya as the regions ICT hub is underway.

Built on 5,000 acres outside of Nairobi on the way to the port city of Mombasa, the project is being marketed as a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) "where African silicon savannah begins".

The Kenyan government hopes to attract business process outsourcing, software development, data centers, disaster recovery centers, call centers and light assembly manufacturing industries. The techno city will also include a university campus focused on research and technology as well as hotels, residential areas, schools and hospitals, a science park, a convention center, shopping malls, hotels, international schools, and a health facility.

It is estimated to cost approximatively US$14.5bn and is part of a key driver of Kenya’s national development plan, known as Kenya Vision 2030.
