OHL : A ciment plant in Colombia

Ecocementos, company owned and shared by the Colombian group Corona and by the Spanish company Cementos Molins, has awarded OHL (Obrascón Huarte Lain) a Spanish concessions and construction group located in Madrid (Spain) to build a cement plant in Colombia for an amount of 224.6 million euros (238 million dollars).

The ciment plant will be built in the area of Antioquia, in Sonson’s city. The plant expects to produce a daily capacity of 3,150 tons per day of clinker and approximately 1.35 million tons of cement per year.

As part of the development throughout the area of Antioquia, the creation of the plant could generate nearly an average of 800 jobs when the plant becomes fully operational.

The project will be performed under the turnkey modality (EPC) and the technology chosen will be from FLSmidth, a leader in the cement sector and a company with which OHL Industrial has been working for several years.

OHL with this contract consolidates its presence and its vocation as a builder with EPC turnkey projects within the cement and mining field throughout the American Continent.
