Frankfurt: Liebherr switches to bank

A mobile crane Liebherr MK 140, belonging to the Wiesbauer company, carries out roofing work in the banking district of Frankfurt, Germany.

As part of the construction of an R + 9 office building in the center of Frankfurt, a Liebherr mobile crane MK 140 was mobilized in July 2016 for the lifting of metal girders. At the end of August, and at the beginning of September, it carried out two operations in order to put up materials for the roof.

Thanks to its reduced footprint, the mobile crane was mounted at a distance of 9.5 m from the building. This made it possible to condemn only one street lane and to facilitate traffic. In addition, the new automatic detection system of the crane equipment excluded any errors at the time of configuration.

Another advantage is VarioJib, the new boom concept that offers 2 possible operating modes: standard carriage mode and lift mode. In Frankfurt, the arrow of the MK 140 was placed at 45 ° and it was the trolley mode which was activated. In this configuration, the boom end load is 1.9 t at the maximum reach of 58.5 m.

To raise roofing materials up to 1.8 t up to the top of the 50 m high Frankfurt office building, a range of 40 m was required.
