BIM Bang at Rector
The structural and flooring specialist in pre-stressed and reinforced concrete Rector accelerates its transition to BIM. Already involved in the Atelier BIM Virtuel, they deliver the first feedback.

With a catalog of BIM objects operational since 2015, Rector has been engaged for 3 months in the Atelier BIM Virtuel, a new experimentation to test the strengths and potential brakes of the digital mock-up. As a construction actor and member of various BIM commissions within the LCA-FFB (Builders and Furnishers of the French Building Federation), the FIB (Federation of the Concrete Industry) CSTB (Scientific and Technical Center of the Building) since 2015, the company actively participates in the call of the pilot of the project, Social Union for the Habitat.

PUBLICITÉ
The principle of the workshop is simple: to completely redo in BIM and using the business tools usually used by the professionals an existing operation of dwellings already realized outside BIM. The objective is to test the strengths and possible limitations of the BIM in relation to a traditional constructive methodology, with a view to raising the skills of the internal teams involved in exploiting the digital model in the field. Rector, who provided the prealles on the housing operation concerned, will compare the BIM methodology with the traditional methodology and quantify the gains of a direct treatment in BIM.

"As precaster, Rector has long used 3D modeling in its industrial process. Because innovation is at the heart of our industrial strategy, BIM is not a revolution for us, but a logical evolution. It is even more important: a revealer of the potential of prefabrication, the opportunity to reveal all the intelligence of our prefabricated systems, whose very vocation is to anticipate and solve factory problems at the factory. From the design to the on-site delivery, the digital mock-up favors off-site prefabrication for an optimal reduction in construction times and costs. With the prefabrication, the singular points were managed in the factory, which already allowed to win on time on site. Today, 3D simulations, the risk of errors or omissions are removed before the start of the work, "said David Poulain, Director of Marketing and Communication Rector .

"Currently, through our investment in the implementation of BIM objects designed by the specialist digital model Polantis, we are in talks with three private developers and architects particularly engaged in BIM, where we study the advisability of Designing BIM objects adapted to their needs. With these projects, we were consulted on the construction of more than 150 houses and individual houses grouped, which is far from negligible in the current context.Because we are "BIM ready ", we become reference contact for all developers and architects who wish to adopt this constructive methodology," said Vincent Balon, coordinator prescription BIM projects in Rector.
